How's Everything The Ultimate Guide for all Waiters and Waitresses Who Want to Dramatically Increase their Tips ReviewI've been involved in hospitality my entire life and worked in the industry for about 4 or 5 years now and plan to stay till the day I die. I can only assume that the industry differs significantly from country to country because as an Australian tips have never been a significant issue,(although that isn't to say they can't be earned!!). The result of this is that if you want to enjoy your job you do everything you can to please your customers, not for money, but so that you can get that 'thankyou' and a sense of pride of a job well done - if I didn't have that sense of job satisfaction, with or without the tips - there is no way i could continue. [job satisfaction in service industry has been proven through studies to improve customer satisfaction, which inturn improves job satisfaction: happy customer mean happy staff which means more happy customers]
Regardless of tips, this book provides insight into the subtlty of language (body and verbal) and the types of presonalities your bound to encounter in the industry. Unless you can be informed about these it is a long and slow and at sometimes painful, learning process and it really is the most important thing you will ever learn, both for job satisfaction, proffesionality and tips!!
If you want to refine your service,find you don't like how customers repond to you or are new to the industry I'd suggest buying this book. If you've worked in the industry for a while and understand the subtlties of how to speak to different types of customers, type of language etc and find all your customers already satisfied, that you have a relationship with them and as a result you yourself are satisfied with your work and efforts, then you may find as I did, this book won't tell you anything you don't already know.
